2016 Optima Hybrid Keeps What We Love About the Best-Selling Nameplate

The new 2016 Optima that has been loved by consumers comes back and keeps all of the style and efficiency of the third-generation Kia Optima. Packed full with premium features, with European design and enhanced fuel economy achieved by the hybrid powertrain, that lets you drive longer without filing back up. The 2016 Optima Hybrid comes in two trim levels including the Hybrid and Hybrid EX.

A 2.4-liter engine with a 47 horsepower electric motor that combines to produce 199 horsepower and 235 lb-ft of torque. The electric motor is powered by a 47 kW lithium polymer battery that works with a six-speed automatic transmission that brings the power to the front wheels. The Hybrid trim-level has an EPA-estimated 36 mpg in the city, 40 mpg on the highway and 38 mpg combined. The Hybrid EX has EPA-estimated 35 mpg in the city, 39 mpg on the highway, and 37 mpg combined.

Unique exterior components help to make the hybrid more aerodynamic such as additional vents on the front bumper, a new grille, and new fender badges to add to the unique appeal. Some aluminum components help to reduce the weight of the vehicle due to the heavy battery. The Hybrid Convenience Package adds premium features such as a 10-way power adjustable driver seat, LED front positioning headlights, acoustic laminated windshield and front door windows as well as UVO eServices with a rear camera display.

The Technology Package adds features to the Hybrid EX model including a Panoramic sunroof with gloss black B-pillars, a Back-up warning system, Blind-spot detection and Rear Cross Traffic Alert. Along with every other Kia model, the Optima Hybrid and Hybrid EX have an array of safety and security features like Electronic Stability Control, four-wheel Antilock Brake System and Hill Start Assist Control.
