Vehicle Winterization Tips
As winter approaches, it is time to get a few simple things ready so that your vehicle can be ready for the cold. It is important to keep a few essential supplies in your vehicle during the winter months. Below you will find a simple list of items that are necessary to have during the cold. This list is not all inclusive but are items that you definitely don't want to leave home without in the blistering cold.Â
• Keep a spare tire and a jack in the event you need to change a flat tire. Keep a piece of material or         piece of cardboard in the vehicle so that you have a dry place to sit while changing your tire.
• Extra oil for your engine, coolant and washer fluid should be kept in your car.Â
• If you live in colder areas that receive snow, you will want to invest in a good ice scraper during the         winter months. An ice scraper with a brush on the end is an excellent item to have handy.
• You will want to have a flashlight and extra batteries, but make sure to replace batteries each         winter.Â
• Flares are very helpful in the event you get stuck or have an accident. During the winter months         visibility levels can be low.
• Keep an extra pair of boots and gloves in your vehicle.
• A warm blanket that can keep you warm if you get stuck and your heater is no longer working.
In addition to the items you will want to keep in our car, you will also want to make sure you do winter maintenance on your vehicle.
• Check your fluid levels.
• Make sure your belts are all in good shape.
• If you have 4WD, make sure it is working properly, you may not have used it during the warmer         months.
• Check your tires, including your spare.
